Updates from the Pasadena Meeting

All,
Thanks for a great turn out at the SIG meeting in Pasadena. We had about 50 folks drop by.
I will be sending out notes from the SIG soon. Thanks to Heather Slania and Susan Rackover for their topic talk on the development of an artists' book thesaurus. We need your input and ideas so keep them coming!
Also keep an eye out for the upcoming ARLIS webinar on outreach with artists' books.

We have two new coordinators taking over the SIG. Please welcome Amanda Meeks (University of Chicago Library and Chicago's Read/Write Library). You can find out more about Amanda here: www.amandammeeks.wordpress.com Coordinating with Amanda is Michelle Strizever, a D.C. based curation specialist. Her work focuses on the intersection of libraries, archives, artists' books, book history, and literary theory.

Thanks to both of them for coordinating the SIG this coming year. Already looking forward to DC in 2014.
Cheers, Teresa

Update on Communications for the Book Art SIG

Greetings All-
To those of you that have expressed interest in joining the ARLIS/NA Book Art SIG you are in the right place for communications about SIG activities. Messages are posted here and sometimes on ARLIS-L depending on the scope of interest. It is a pretty quiet blog as you can see. Most of our activity surrounds the annual meeting and I will be coordinating efforts as the annual meeting planning ramps up.

As the chair of the SIG I do not send out separate email communications to SIG members due to our large constituency.  Please feel free to comment and post book arts related topics here or contact me directly if you would like to get involved or if I can be of service.
Cheers, Teresa Burk, ACA Library, SCAD Atlanta

Session Proposal for ARLIS 2013

Greetings Book Arts Folks,
I am working on a session draft for Friday based on good feedback I got from ARLIS-L concerning outreach tactics to donors, friends of the library groups, and administrators via book arts collections. How do we to get them excited about artists' books that may be different from outreach to students? Looking for ideas that get them inspired and donating/allocating funds for artist books. Are you willing to speak about your successes/challenges with this topic or do you have a few ideas that would make this session stronger? Let me hear from you! Thanks, Teresa Burk, SCAD/Atlanta
